25th Anniversary Trip to China (Itinerary and Application):
JSSCC is organizing a trip to China this October with a delegation made up of elected official(s), community and business leaders, and citizens from the Greater Sacramento region. The delegation will visit Jinan as invited VIP guests to attend the 25th anniversary ceremony there. Sacramento City Councilman Steve Cohn is confirmed to lead the delegation. The trip also includes tour to eight other cities in eastern China such as Beijing, Qufu, Zibo, Weifang, Yantai, Qingdao, Suzhou, and Shanghai.
JSSCC Sponsors Jinan Music Students to Visit Sacramento:
Sacramento will welcome eight middle school students from Jinan to attend the Sacramento Youth Symphony's (SYS) Summer Chamber Music Workshop and present joint concerts on July 12 -18, 2010. JSSCC sponsors this international educational exchange in collaboration with SYS. The students, age 13 to 16, are selected by the Jinan Children’s Palace, an after-school and weekend program for talented students in arts. They come from seven middle schools in Jinan. In their audition video, the students mentioned that they’d like to “make friends with Americans” in addition to improving their music skills during their stay. Ms. Li Yiqun, their teacher will chaperon them to Sacramento on July 8.
JSSCC Hosted the official delegation from Jinan:
JSSCC received the 7-member delegation from Jinan led by Mr. Xu Changyu, Chairman of the Jinan Political Council on June 17 -18, 2010. The delegation was here to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Sacramento and Jinan. The City of Sacramento welcomed the delegation at a reception in City Hall, and celebrated the 25th anniversary together. Mayor Johnson and Mr. Xue signed a Memoranda of Understanding, which renews the sister city exchanges from 2011-2015.
Application for “Youth Ambassador” Trip to China:
We offer subsidized summer tour of China to middle and high school students in the Greater Sacramento Region. It is a great opportunity for worthy Sacramento students to get to know Jinan and explore the wonders of China . Student participants will attend the International Youth Festival in Jinan . At the Festival, our students will meet peers from Jinan 's other sister cities from over 20 countries. Teachers and family of students and teachers are encouraged to apply to be chaperons for the students during the trip.
Chinese New Year Festival:
Feb 6, 2010, Sat 10am – 10pm, Sac State Student Union. As the Chair Organization of the Sacramento Chinese New Year Culture Association (CNYCA), we spearhead the effort in organizing the Chinese New Year Festival this year. We are proud to be part of a thirteen-year tradition in the Sacramento Chinese American community and pass on the culture heritage to future generations.
